Eggshelling
I had to call my colleague India in the UK and we bemoaned the politics of organisations. She introduced the term ‘eggshelling’, as a verb, as in to tiptoe around someone, unsure of their potential reaction. We decided there’s limited practical value of eggshelling, but I’ll take it into usage as it’s an excellent addition to the repertoire.
I managed a break at lunchtime to the outdoor area of the office building. There’s a pool which I was informed is not suitable for swimming but around which we are allowed to hold events, where guests can nibble on canapés and circulate in an ambience of bonhomie.
I was reading some articles about Trump’s impeachment and more racist false claims he’d made about those ‘hardened criminals’ who arrived as immigrant children and who try to acquire citizenship as adults. The path to citizenship sounds like it isn’t open to them if their records aren’t clean. A woman had written: ‘Trump is a lying sack of shit.’ I love profanity when it’s needed to make a point. It was a perfect description. It’s becoming increasingly impossible to believe those claims that he has a ‘genius mind’ for campaigning. I think the truth is that he is of poor-medium intelligence, hugely ignorant and inherently bigoted.
