Quantum Leap

This morning I had to go into Shrewsbury. After all the rain that we've had the River Severn iss very high but the flood barriers aren't up yet. The town is in a loop of the river and I remember the extensive flooding that took place in my younger days. The barriers seem to do the job (so far).

This is Quantum Leap by the river. It was erected to mark Charles Darwin's bicentenary in 2009 (he was born in the town).  It's nicknamed The Slinky for obvious reasons!

The Welsh Bridge that can be seen beyond the sculpture is further away than it looks on the photo.
