What used to be here
The area to the back of this stream used to be an earthen dam that breached in Oct 2015 when this area had 24 inches (61cm) of rain in less than 12 hours. The dam has not been rebuilt yet but after some researching I have found that the owners of the historical building (to the right in the photo) and the Town of Lexington have come up with a joint plan to rebuild with plans to start this process at the end of this year or early 2020. Apparently the permitting process has been a killer, environmentally and engineering wise. Hopefully this will happen as planned.
The area looks so awful right now even though the old mill houses three restaurants and several other businesses that are thriving. I guess people don't care what the outside area looks like as long as the food is good!
