Being present for a present

It was a nice day outside today so after a floor cleaning in the house and a long walk with the dog I decided to rake up the second batch of leaves. There were more than before. Sigh...

So while I am raking I noticed a spot of color under some leaves in my newest flower bed (the one where most of the plants died!). I thought it was a bright leaf but it was this little raggedy zinnia with a ladybug.

I am so glad I had absorbed some of that exercise from 30 Days of Perception with Kim Manley Ort...the ones about peripheral vision and being curious. And being present and noticing what is around you!

I love when nature leaves me a present!
