Wild Parakeets

My wife was meeting a former colleague and friends for lunch so I set off to explore on foot parts of London I did not know well.

Kensington Palace Gardens was the first stop and the biggest surprise of the day fir me was seeing flocked of parakeets in the trees, perched on people’s arms and being fed. apparently there are some 8,000 plus loose in London if you believe the internet.

The second surprise for me was when I visited Apsley House home of the Duke of Wellington. The number of pictures of Napoleon and the 3 ton marble statue of him seemed a bit excessive. Spoils of war I suspect.

I headed to Fortnum & Mason which I’d never visited before. Expensive and special. Their Christmas window displays were good fun. And the tea lived up to expectations even though I do not go for the top of the range experience.

Then spent some time looking at the Christmas decorations (though the Trafalgar Square tree not yet up). An example of Regent Street attached as extra.

Also attached two sights by Hyde Park. The Matt Marga sculpture of the Queen’s head made out of one million crystals.

And the statue of a horse sipping water by Marble Arch.

Back for a meal at the flat with a friend formerly of Edinburgh.

Then packing.
