…………………Abbotsford & Melrose Abby, Scotland



A Back Blip, uploaded Saturday 23rd November for 7th May.

Today, our tour took us to the Scottish Borders to visit Abbotsford House, home of novelist, playwright & poet Sir Walter Scott. Walking through his home was fascinating.

Our next stop was Melrose Abby where we wandered around the abby ruins and the museum. The tower of the ruin was still considered safe to climb, which I did, and was rewarded with a splendid view of the countryside.


The main photo shows a small area of the extensive library at Abbotsford - it holds over 9000 rare volumes, and a bust of William Shakespeare.
