Back Blip…

………………..Kessock Bridge, Inverness

A Back Blip, uploaded Sunday 24th November for 8th May.

Today we said goodbye to Edinburgh. Our tour group travelled to Inverness via St Andrews and Pitlochry.

It absolutely poured with rain and blew a gale at St Andrews - so, we skipped getting drenched, and a photo standing on the famous golf course! If we hadn’t visited in 1977 I might have made a different choice, but the museum and shop provided an interesting interlude.

My husband’s grandmother was a district nurse in Pitlochry many years ago before she moved to NZ so it was lovely visiting the area for our lunch stop. Misty rain and very cool temperatures didn’t dampen our exploration of this Victorian mountain resort.

Today’s main photo is Kessock Bridge, Inverness, which opened in 1982 and crosses the tidal water of  Beauly Firth. This photo was taken from Carnarc Point where the River Ness meets the sea. It was also photographed Thursday afternoon, but I am taking the liberty of posting it today.

Extra photos
St Andrews - shows one of ten bronzes portraying the grips of champion golfers. The artist, Torres is famous as the drummer in rock band, Bon Jovi.
Pitlochry - entrance to the town
Inverness - looking across River Ness, a row of delightful homes beside the river, statue of Flora MacDonald in the front of Inverness castle. Flora was the young woman who helped Prince Charles Edward Stuart to escape after the Jacobite rising and the battle of Culloden.
