Pairing Up
Couldn't believe it when I saw these fulmars sitting together on the cliff! It is January, bitter cold, with a horrendous wild chill factor, and here they are, billing and cooing and deciding on a ledge for this year's nest! And they weren't alone - it was the same story all the way along the cliff!
Fulmars are related to albatrosses, rather than gulls, and are incredibly long lived birds. Some Orkney birds have been recorded at over 40 years old, so presumably they know what they are doing!
Looks pretty good large . . .
