Warwickshire day 2: Beauchamp Chapel
A nostalgic trip around Warwick this morning, our home for 25 years. We revisited St Mary's Church - a jaw-dropping place of wonderment especially the fabulous and ancient Beauchamp Chapel. Built as a chantry chapel for the 13th Earl of Warwick, also known as the Kingmaker. He died in 1439 and this is his bronze gilt funeral monument. He is gazing up, hands in open prayer, gazing at the ceiling boss showing the Queen of Heaven should you be wondering. The extra shows some of the ancient stained glass that was smashed up by Cromwell (the firs tone) and put together rather haphazardly. The body is the Kingmaker and the head is his daughter.
The afternoon was wet - we found ourselves a wonderful pool complete with outdoor hot pool and mega jets, a sauna and steam room. Bliss.
