The diner
Today I got my favorite window-side table at Neil’s Coffee Shop, where I eat my lunch at least twenty times a year. (The main photo shows the interior of the diner from my seat, while the extra shows my view through the window.) And today, for the first time, instead of bringing over a menu, one of the waiters called out to me, “The usual?”
“Yes!” I said, happily.
A few minutes later, when he brought over my grilled cheese sandwich and Diet Coke (this being “the usual”), he said, “How long you been coming here?”
“Oh, about ten years,” I estimated.
“Seems like yesterday!” he said.
