Athelstaneford

Bit cloudier today, a bit of a north wind, so I head out to the East Lothian coastal road. cycling along the Innocent Railway Path there is some grass frost, but no ice on the path. A bit of hazy sunshine as cycle on Milton Road East down to Joppa and then Musselburgh. It is very cold and windy. there are some white horses trying to make it on to land ;-) at Seton Sands.

Once through Aberlady, I head inland to Drem and up to Athelstaneford. Athelstaneford  is the birthplace of the Saltire, the flag of Scotland. The flag isn't doing the wind justice, apart from showing it is a north wind.

From here, it is over the Garlton Hills, then downhill to Longniddry where I rejoin the coast road. Then it's almost back the way I came, through Prestonpans, Musselburgh and Joppa. Up Milton Road East to the Innocent Railway. The sunlight is quite milky shining through the thin clouds. Then back through Morningside and home.

The ride can be seen at Relive here.

A cold afternoon in Morningside looking through the charity shops. The clouds clear a bit, but it is quite chilly, especially if the breeze gets you. Coffee and cake very welcoming.good thing is I am only halfway through my long weekend.
