Fractal frost patterns on the car

Yikes, it was cold last night. I don't know why these rather attractive patterns form on certain nights, but I think it has something to do with the intense cold forcing sudden drops in temperature, when the atmosphere has less water vapour. I managed to grab my camera while the car engine warmed up and the heater thawed the interior windows. I didn't hang about any longer than necessary.
