Best Before, NOT, Use By!

Ok, so the Best Before was October 2019, I've eaten stuff that was way older than the B.B. date and lived to tell the tale.
I reckon a couple of months over was fine so I opened this cake tin, which had been lurking in the back of a cupboard, to test it. Well, someone had to.
It is delicious, packed with brandy soaked currants and, as a virtual non drinker, I feel quite light headed after a couple of slices!
I think leaving it for longer probably improved it from it's normal excellent state to something even more succulent and heady.
I liked it anyway, luckily no-one else likes fruit cake other than F.M.i.L. and I'm not about to tell her about it HAHAHAHAHAHA
