The Camera Never Lies...
Oh, yes, it does.
You could be excused for thinking this is a piper caught roaming the Pentlands but, in fact, it's a piper caught outside Millets window and strategically placed.
Today was the annual Bonnie Prince Charlie parade, arranged by the Charles Edward Stuart Society. The pipers parade through the town, stop off to press gang the Mayor of Derby, march to Cathedral Green and recreate a battle which took place in 1745 (just before six). There's a wreath laying ceremony followed by the pipers leading the group and audience into the cathedral for a short service to mark the lives lost. The pipers don't hang round in the cathedral, they parade off, and pipe themselves into the pub. It's an amazing sight to behold.
Coincidentally, the pipers are from the Drambuie Pipe Band, which originated in the village I lived in for 10 years. When your two worlds collide...
Tears were shed.
