Thwart
Today we were thwarted from getting back out on the sea due to rain and unsavoury conditions. Boat operators opted to cancel tours so instead we mooched around and enjoyed iced coffees, strolling and Tofo’s relaxed vibe.
Diversity Scuba has this rustbucket of a vehicle, watched over by a slumbering security guard. Luckily, Tofo isn’t a hotbed of crime, so no one is overly concerned about a guard sleeping on the job.
In the evening we sampled some local fare and beers and talked to the Irish owner of the bar/restaurant where we were sitting. He’s been in Tofo for twenty years and has seen its fortunes wax and wane. He had interesting tales including of being confronted with great white sharks off the coast here, and having all ribs broken by a humpback whale whilst filming the sardine run in South Africa.
