Dry but Baltic cold today ( either that or my blood is getting thin )
A morning spent next door bringing in more cows and calves . The usual clipping backs ( to help prevent sweating) pneumonia vaccine and wormer dose for the calves and freeze brands clipped for the cows.
A trip to Fort Kinnaird to drop Junior off this afternoon. It was hoaching ! Couldn’t get away quick enough. Folk walking out in front of you, cars pulling out in front of you , stopping dead in front of you. Junior summed it all up for a Monday afternoon - “ do none of these people work ?”
Back home to find a cow on calving with a pair of front legs sticking out . Tried to give them a pull in the field, but she decided to get up and then decided she didn’t like the look of me ! After a quick sprint across the field, got the bike and reinforcements and brought her in to the crush . A wee pull and a live heifer calf popped out . Hopefully it will suck by its self as mummy’s hormones are still raging !
