The Setting Of A Sun, Chapel Down, Kent

After the horrendous election result I really did feel the need to escape from any news coverage, so we turned off the telly, stopped looking at anything politics related, and went down to Rye to take in some old world charm.
It was so needed - had lunch at a lovely pub, staffed by lovely people, serving up good food. We then decided if we saw anything beautiful and original we would buy it to cheer ourselves up, to counteract all the ugliness and deceit of the past few weeks and days. So I found a gorgeous ceramic lizard in an antiques shop for under £20 and some  unique hand made saucers from an art gallery. It was then time to head back via Chapel Down (to buy our Christmas ciders) to Maidstone to get the turkey and stuffings from the ever reliable Marks & Sparks.
A charlatan, misogynist, liar and borderline racist has been elected as our One True Egotistical God and it is totally dismaying. I cannot understand how whole areas of the North and Wales voted for a party who destroyed many of their communities during the years of Thatcher, Cameron, May and austerity. Somehow the EU and Corbyn (useless waste of space that he is) have been portrayed as the devil incarnate when that is who we have just elected with a resounding majority -  all through three words -"Get Brexit Done". He avoided all scrutiny and dodged Andrew Neil who eviscerated all the other party leaders. Even the normally brilliant BBC rolled over and played right into the Tory playbook - I'm sorry to say this, but shame on them.
