A day out in London

I had a lovely day out today in London - I don't think I have spent a day in London since June so it has been a while....Gavin kindly worked from home today as things are less busy at work now. He looked after Xena so I had a day to go off and enjoy myself.

The outing was arranged by one of the members of our camera group and she planned everything so well. We met in the cafe in the crypt of the Brompton Oratory in Kensington for coffees before going to the V&A to see the excellent photography exhibition by Tim Walker. He is a fashion photographer who does very creative, surreal images, quite imaginative and all designed and staged and not achieved through Photoshop.

This was followed by a glass of prosecco in the V&A cafe to toast the Christmas season, and then we headed down to the South Bank for a light lunch. Lunch finished quite late and some of our group went off to the National Portrait Gallery to see the Taylor Wessing exhibition, but I decided to head home as we have a rail strike on our line and there are only trains every hour, so I thought best to get the train then and not later in the commuter rush hour. We do an outing every time this year and last year my train was cancelled due to an accident on the line, so I only got to London in time for lunch and missed the exhibition outing. Trains, hey!

Thomas has been studying at home today. He really would like to work at the cafe he worked at during the summer but he cannot afford the time, he has so much university work with exams in January. It's also not encouraged to work by his director of studies.

This photo was taken when crossing Hungerford Bridge, a steel pan musician styled for Christmas!
