Me: I love the moon
R: Why?
Me: Because the moon is the same all over the world. It's the same moon here, to you and me, as it is to the richest man in the world, wherever he may be. The moon doesn't belong to anyone. No one can own the moon. Not even the queen. The moon is there above us reminding us that there is more to life than ownership and possessions. Not even the richest man in the world can own the moon. The moon is no one's and everyone's.
Pause
R: Noah says that the moon and the sun are stars.
Me: Well, the sun is a star, but the moon is a moon
Chris (new contributor to conversation): The moon is a rock.
R & Me: Oh.
Bigger pause
C (to me): Are you finished?
Me: Yes
C: HAHAHAHAHAHAHA That sounded like a description of the start of a Hollywood spoof. Next scene: 50 years later, big richest man in the world planting flag on the moon. HAHAHAHAHA
Me: I thought I was having a profound moment
C: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAH
