Infrequent visitor.
This morning I spotted the Red Squirrel making a visit to the feeder by way of the bird bath for a drink. Grabbing the camera I got a few shots before it decided to move on. The bird feeding station was quite busy so I stayed sitting at the window counting numbers of each species, for my BTO Garden BirdWatch.
The feeders went quiet not a bird in sight but I stayed seated. Suddenly there was a brown streak which shot over the feeders, did a sharp turn and flew to the squirrel feeder. As you can see it was a male Sparrowhawk ( Accipiter nisus ). The small birds must have somehow known it was in the area. A few minutes after it left they all returned.
