What a grey day!
Grey and chilly, but it's not raining and the wind is only beginning to get up. Supposed to get much more windy overnight! Grrr!
Had a Community Council meeting today at the library to discuss the latest Development Plan for Argyll & Bute, or at least the Oban bits. Six of our eighteen members turned up. Lots to talk about; we intend to object in principle to the gradual development when a) the road infrastructure in the specified areas is insufficient, b) the sewage system is insufficient - when the tanks are full then neat sewage is poured into Oban Bay, so if you visit, don't eat the shellfish, c) the water supply is insufficient, d) the flooding in town caused by the concreting and tarmacking of land on the hilly outskirts, and the cutting down of the trees, e) the traffic movement and parking problems in Oban caused by the rapid increase of the number of cars and f) the gradual loss of green space generally.
Apart from that it's OK, if we ignore the new golf course - we already have one - and the new tourist and conference centre on a hill outside town. And no doubt many other problems!
