Loving the weather

What a day – wet and dark. I can’t remember seeing it rain as hard as it did just after lunch – quite spectacular for a time! I was intending to walk down to pick up a prescription at the chemist’s, but opted for the car. There was a long queue outside but I returned in 15 minutes and it was down to two, so I didn’t have to wait too long and the rain had almost gone off.

Not a great day for photographs, so I took advantage of this fella hiding among my ferns. I’d Blipped him a couple of months ago in Homebase Garden Centre, but to my shame, maybe, I decided that I rather liked him and crept back to buy him. I was expecting the till lady to laugh, but she must be used to people buying this sort of junk! I love the look on his face – today he was quite right to look so grumpy!

Limerick of the Day:

From the dark forest depths of the Congo
Came a drummer from tribal Boshongo.
He signed up with a band
And elected to stand
At the side of the stage with his bongo.

(Yes, there really is such a tribe! The creator god in Bushongo mythology is called Bumba. He existed alone in darkness, the world consisting only of water. Bumba was said to appear like a gigantic man in form and white in colour. The creation took place when he vomited forth the sun, moon, earth, plants and animals and then humanity. Bomazi is the ancestor-god of the Bushongo. Thought you'd like to know that!)
