ORCHID HOSPITAL

The bathroom windowsill is the brightest, and probably coldest, in the house. It gets an hour's heat and a bit of steam every morning. The orchids come here when they've finished flowering, I occasionally remember to give them some water and take away the dead bits and then every so often they send up new spikes and burst into flower again. They have all done this, despite managing to look very dead in between times. The Christmas cactus looks a bit sad but it flowers prolifically at least twice a year, and I do give it a bit more water. I quite like the shapes of the dead flowers against the light, though, or perhaps that's just an excuse for my laziness.
