Virginia Vacation: Day 6.

Return to Montpelier.

We enjoyed Montpelier so much on Sunday that we decided to return there today.

But before we left the resort we stopped at the stables again to see the horses, which I love! A couple of them even came up to the fence where we were standing.  I loved this up close and personal shot of this beautiful male.  There’s another beauty in my extra collage.

Also featured in the collage are a couple of pictures from Montpelier.  For the past couple of years they have been doing some archaeological digs on the property and we stopped to talk to one of the interns about their findings.  She showed us a few of the objects that they have found and she actually put some of them in my hand!!  The nails that you see in my palm (upper right picture) are from the 1700’s!!  How exciting is that!?!

The weather was perfect and we had a grand time walking through the property again … this time in the sunshine!  There were lots of butterflies in the gardens today. And we stopped at a historical site that’s across the street before heading back to our cabin in the woods.  I have a picture of our cabin in the extra collage …. top middle picture.

Also featured in the collage are just a few of the birds and other wildlife that visit us at our cabin in the mornings. Bottom left is a white-breasted nuthatch; bottom right is tufted titmouse; and right side middle is an Eastern gray squirrel.  I told you they follow me everywhere!

We had a royal day!
