Abstract Thursday?
Not quite.
Virginia Vacation: Day 7
Boy, did we make the most of this vacation day! We packed in a lot of things and had a great day doing so!
We once again stopped by the equestrian center but this time it was to play with the small gazing ball that we brought with us. I was impressed with the Panasonic once again as it focused really well on the orb … upper left picture.
We were driving to Charlottesville today for a wonderful blipmeet with Kimb! We met her for lunch in Downtown Charlottesville (lower left pic) and had a wonderful time! I hope she enjoyed the blipmeet as much as we did! The food and company were marvelous! Thank you, Kim, for agreeing to meet us!
After our blipmeet we went to the University of Virginia, which is also in Charlottesville. The university offers tours that are led by the students … our leader (Chloe) was fabulous! And the tour was great. The university was designed and founded by Thomas Jefferson in 1819 and is a beautiful campus. The Jefferson Rotunda is in the upper right of my collage.
From the university we drove to the Barboursville Ruins (bottom right pic) …. which is a house that was also designed by Thomas Jefferson for his friend James Barbour. Sadly this house was destroyed by a fire on Christmas Day 1884 and was never rebuilt. It was the only house in Orange County known to have been designed by Thomas Jefferson.
We stopped at a Mexican restaurant for supper on our way back to our cabin.
It was another Royal Day!
Backblipped: December 26, 2019 .... FINALLY!!!
