Lake Lure Holiday ....
... heading home.
We wanted to get on the road early as we have one stop to make before heading home. We had breakfast at Dave’s before packing up the car and getting on the road by 9:00 am. My picture is my brother on his front porch seeing us off.
Next stop … the Wakefield Peanut Company! Since we knew we would be driving through Virginia on the way home we planned on this stop to buy some more peanuts for the squirrels! And we also bought some peanut goodies for ourselves, too! It’s not always about the squirrels!
It was loooong trip home after stopping at Wakefield as the traffic was a nightmare. We have never encountered so many detours and traffic delays as we did today. It was tiring and very frustrating because all we wanted was to get home to our kitties.
We didn’t get home until almost 8:00 pm … way too long of a drive that should have taken about half as long. All told it was about 10 hours in the car … ugh!
We had a great vacation but it was awesome getting home after that nightmare of a drive with our kitties welcoming us home!
Our Lake Lure vacation by the numbers:
Miles driven: 1,807 … not as many as some vacations!
Photos taken: 1,508 … plus some on Richard’s camera.
Most unique license plate: Washington State. This is based on the fact that we don’t see these plates very often. I like to keep track of all the different license plates and determine the one that’s the furthest from our location. Washington State and all the California plates are the farthest away. We saw some great state plates … including some from Texas, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Montana, Colorado and Utah … just to name a few.
Backblipped: December 31, 2020. Thank you to all those that have gone back to view these Backblipped vacation pictures.
