Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

2019 Thursday — 11 Years, 4015 Blips

I remember the moment 11 years ago vividly that I uploaded my first blip. I had googled to find some kind of daily online journal. Blipfoto was the result of that search. It was almost midnight on January 5, 2008 (since then I have added some pre-blip photos to my journal; that’s why my number comes up sooner).

I have always been an advocate of journaling and strongly urged my students to journal everyday. So I wanted to make sure that I was going what I was telling my students to do.

In those 11 years many things in my life have changed. We’ve added two grandsons-in-law. We gained 3 more great-grandkids. Our sweet little Bob dog crossed the Final Bridge in June of 2010; then six and a half months later we added little Chloe on December 26, 2010. She’s been with us 9 years today. Five weeks later we added Max & Mitzi to our family. These three pups have filled our lives with wonder and delight. In November of 2012 we became the thrilled owners of a little beach house on California’s Central Coast in the town of Cayucos (ky-u-cuss). In June of 2014 Mr. Fun retired. In January 2015 our granddaughter got married. In May of 2015 we started the remodel on our beach place. In November of 2015 our second great grandchild, Jade Estella, was born. The remodel was completed in January 2016. In November of 2016 our oldest grandchild got married. In January of 2018 we sold a little rental house we had owned for 26 years. My stepdad, Pops went to Heaven in March 2018 and so did Grammie Fun, (Mr.Fun’s mom). In May we had an estate sale at her house; in April her home sold and the very same day our big beautiful home sold. We moved back to our first house, a little home that needed lots of refurbishing and still needs some; it had been a rental for 24 years. In February 2019 our third great grandchild was born and in June our fourth great grandchild was born. The 2019 autumn semester was Rosie’s, (that’s me), last semester of teaching English (writing) at the community college, and she finished 30 years of teaching.

Those are just the tall points of the past 11 years. Many other ordinary, but meaningful moments have been captured here in Blipfoto.

The community of blippers has been amazing with lots of encouragement and camaraderie. It’s the BEST community on the Internet! I love this place! I love these people.

I am addicted to blipping. And other than a couple of back-Blip’s I need to do for the two days before Christmas, I have blipped every day since January 5, 2008. I am convinced it is worthwhile! Blip saves my life one day at a time and for that I am immensely grateful.

Today’s photo is from my front porch in SoCal. It was 4:30 p.m. as the sun was just going down.
