Preparations

The city is gearing up for the New Year celebrations. The shrine is already displaying omikuji - strips of paper containing fortunes. The custom is that you leave the omikuji behind if it’s not a good fortune. Traditionally they’re tied around the branches of a pine tree.

Shrines are going to be full of them on January 1st.
