Spinning Top (back-blip for yesterday)

Gyroscopes are brilliant, aren't they? Staying upright by the power of vector algebra, which means that they can't fall over without turning right first, they appear to defy gravity. And yet they don't; while you can (with care) balance one on a taut line of string, if you drop it, it falls at the same rate as anything else. Spin one up on scales, and its weight won't change one ounce.

Plus, of course, they make an excellent child's toy. This one belongs to Hessie's son Adam, and makes a pleasing two-tone drone when you spin it up fast enough.
