Birthday Celebrations No 1...

The first of Ele's 60th Birthday celebrations was today, her actual birthday (another three celebrations to come starting tomorrow with friends, a big family lunch in January in a lovely restaurant, then finally a long weekend away in March in a beautiful, ex-mill granary cottage in County Durham in March.  Really looking forward to that :-) 

Today we had an informal family get together at hers where we exchanged Christmas gifts then Ele opened her birthday gifts.  

Esme was on fine form, playing with her new kitchen and her new baby doll although she tried several times to put the baby in the oven.  Think she needs to work on her mothering skills!

When the time came to sing Happy Birthday it was a very quiet affair as Esme had fallen asleep about an hour earlier and had just woken up again so we didn't want to startle her.  We will do better with the official cake in the restaurant next month :-)

A really lovely day despite David and I both feeling under the weather with impending colds.  

P.S. I addressed Ele's birthday card to Mrs E M********** B.Sc. Hons, OAP  Between that and the bus pass holder I bought her, I could tell she was impressed!  hahahahahahahahahaha!
