Birthday Celebration No 2...

After going to bed feeling rotten last night, I thankfully woke up feeling much better.

A lazy morning was enjoyed before getting ready to go to Edinburgh to see our friends Alan and Gail and join in Ele's birthday celebrations no 2 :-))

Other friends Natalie and Jim were there also and what a great night we had.  So much laughter, and jokes about ageing at poor Ele's expense.  She did draw the line at being referred to as a Senior Citizen though!  lol

Gail made a lovely meal culminating in homemade apple crumble using apples from their own apple trees.  The aroma coming from the oven as it cooked was divine.  

When it was ready Alan decided to put it under the grill to crisp the top, but unfortunately got distracted by the hilarious faff of us trying to light the sparkler for Ele's cake (Gail had put it in the cake upside down!  :-) and burnt the crumble topping to a crisp!  Oh dear.  

This unfortunate turn of events was compounded by Gail dropping the dish on the floor as she quickly tried to remove it from under the grill.  Crumble and dish were definitely no more!

All was not lost though as we did have the rather delicious (and customised by Gail) birthday cheesecake to have instead.

Home by midnight by which time I had laughed so much I had no voice left!
