Trying to be cheerful
A very dark day with heavy cloud cover for the most part, and my mood matched the weather. Usually, at this time of year, just past the Solstice, I'm feeling quite upbeat - it may get colder, but just knowing that the evenings are getting longer and we're heading towards the light, is enough.
But this year there's a sense of impending doom and gloom. Almost certainly something to do with listening to the news for the first time in a few days, having managed to avoid it over the Christmas period. The coming of ****** (insert your own expletive) Brexit. The prospect of at least another 5 years of Tory rule, with Dominic Cummings Boris Johnson at the helm. And then there's climate change. Those with the power to do something about it need to act now, but they're doing next to nothing. The hope seems to lie in the young people who are beginning to rise up for the planet. Maybe, those of us who care need to go in to the new decade with a fighting spirit...
As the sun was fast disappearing, MrM called me through to look at the sky through the window. The heavy cloud had dissipated and this was the view above the rooftops.
