Free French Memorial

A glorious morning up on Lyle Hill.

The memorial is in the form of a Cross of Lorraine with an anchor at the base.   Commemorating the French Naval Forces who sailed from the Clyde to take part in the Battle of the Atlantic. In particular the crew of the submarine Surcouf, together with the Alysse and Mimosa which were lost in the 6 year conflict.
