Not quite enough chairs

It’s a day of cooking. Owen is the first to arrive, followed shortly by Ailsa. The Prescott, following unwelcome interaction with a curb near Potterow, are struggling with two flat tyres. Family Bannerman arrives fresh from planet Mikityn bearing bags of ice. Nick and Anna-Maria arrive from Biggar. Johnny overcomes a flat battery to get here.

It’s hours until Hogmanay. Much chat, too much food, excessive drink. More people. And eventually it’s time to celebrate the changing of the year.

Stewart first foots us after the bells. And then things get messy. The tequila ritual begins. Owen is the first to pass out, followed by Angus, who is unwell. Songs are sung. The party thins out.
