Zoom, Zoom.

Today we went to a new place for us Lake Rotoroa.  It is the largest of the Nelson Lakes.  It is surrounded by mixed beech and podocarp forest.  It is a glacial formed lake.  At the end we launched from there is a camping ground.  At the far end were two tramping huts.  I think in the U.S they are called trailhead huts.  The sandflies are numerous  near the  shore so we had our picnic lunch drifting in the middle of the lake.  A ranger came past in his boat to check we were alright and not broken down.
Sitting on this big lake of freshwater I thought of the Australians experiencing the terrifying bushfires and how important water is.  As you can see the sky was blue but I believe the North Island is now getting the smoke haze.
