Diary of an Edinburgher

Big walk!

A couple of days of forced rest (it was shut over New Year) from the gym, and JR's ankle has recovered, so it was off to her double morning session today. I managed the bike, and my coffee table exercises.

Later on, we met up with a friend and her two grandchildren for a walk through the Hermitage. They were very taken with Archie's tricks, and how he'd come galloping back from far away when I blew the whistle. They had several turns blowing the whistle each, and Archie obliged.

The walk was good, not too many hills and obstacles. In fact, I’ve never gone that way before. We came in by the duck pond, but there was SO MUCH old bread lying around, which Archie wanted to eat, that it was just as well he was on the lead, but pity it was the wee lad's turn to hold it, as Archie was stronger, and more determined, than him.

It was great to catch up with S, and we haven’t seen the grandchildren for ages (they live in London).

Back home for a big bath for the mucky dog and JR popped to the supermarket, while I sat still and recovered (7,156 steps). Archie, seemed to be very tired too, and didn’t even budge from the sofa when JR came back with interesting shopping bags.

A friend came round for a few drinkies in the evening, and Archie surprised everyone by jumping up on the sofa beside her as soon as she sat down. Though he didn’t stay long - the nibbles on the coffee table proved to be more interesting.
