The whispering waters
“Come hither” the water whispers, “oh weary traveller, come enter our restorative embrace, for we can see you are in need of refreshment”. But the weary traveller knows from whence these waters came and dare not. For she knows they came from the regions where winter never ceases, rivers destined forever to be formed of ice to carve their passage downwards.
The turquoise clarity seduces and as if hypnotised she dips one foot, then another, the temptation to let herself tumble down into the depths almost overwhelming. But she has become soft in warm waters of South East Asia and so, with a sigh and shiver she walks on her weary way hoping that, one day soon, she will find the courage to seek the water’s beneficence.
