Birthday boy
My baby boy is one. NoooOOOOooooOOOOooooOOOO! How did that happen?
Anyway, he had a lovely day. His birthday party was rainbow themed with a colourful sensory rummage box, decorations, cake, and sporting some rainbow leggings, too! He also tried his hand at painting for the first time (a rainbow) but he mostly just ate it after making a few marks on the page. There was also friends, dancing, and a few parachute songs. He crashed out on the couch at around 2 which is always the sign of a good party. After he woke up he opened his presents. As you can see from the yawning pic he was unimpressed by this part. He did a few cursory tears but it was mostly the girlchild doing the opening as she was much more excited about that bit. He did get some lovely gifts which he enjoyed once they were out of their packaging-- a tub full of animals, a wooden car transporter with little cars, a ball spinning toy, a puzzle, slinky, book and a soft snake.
So- Monkey at 1
- He is becoming very vocal, trying to copy sounds and screeches. Sometimes it sounds like he's talking- when he gives someone a toy it sounds like he's saying "there-ya-go" but it's so low that I can't quite be sure so I've yet to record his first words.
- He loves playing peek-a-boo and will often pull a blanket over his head to initiate the game. He also loves passing objects around and playing chase with Chickpea.
- Monkey is very mobile for not being able to walk yet and he has a very long reach, somehow. All of the things we thought were baby-proofed for Chickpea really aren't baby proofed at all for him.
- He is brilliant at cruising and has stood on his own a few times.
- He loves taking things apart. And knocking them off the table. Fun!
- He loves singing and turning pages in books, though not necessarily reading them.
- He hates hates hates being changed. He wants to be on the go and will not tolerate simple hygiene related breaks in the action.
- He is absolutely adorable when he squeals with delight!
