#100happydays - Day 11

Monkey is 2! He is the birthday boy today. When he woke up I sang the birthday song to him a few times and he giggled and danced around the room. Then he sang it to himself for quite a while. We couldn't celebrate properly until the Mr. and I were both home from work but we had a fun dance party while he was working. We played his favourite songs ( "What the Fox Say" and "Little Talks") and a few of Chickpea's favourites and played some instruments too. Then we had cake (it took him a good long while to blow out that second candle- luckily or we may not have got this shot) and he opened his presents. He got lots of books, including a special one from grandpa that he used to like as a young boy. Monkey chose this book to read first- "Ferdinand." He also got a rescue helicopter, a wooden caravan set with little people and a scooter. While eating cake I asked him what his favourite present was and he said "Awopane." As soon as he opened it (well, the helicopter) he said, "Oh, WOW!"

Monkey at two--

-- Can count to 13 at least on his own, with help counting alternating (I say 1, he says 2, etc) he can count to about 29.

-- Can sing the alphabet song fairly accurately, except for the "double double X" which will possibly stick for some time.

-- Loves reading storis, pointing to the pictures and can even recite parts of his favourites (right now: "The Gruffalo's Child", "Where the Wild Things Are" and "Stick Man")

-- Wants to do everything big sis is doing and gets very frustrated if he can't.

-- Loves music, singing songs and having a go on all of the instruments.

-- Is a very artistic eater. In which I mean there is normally more food smeared on him/ the table than actually makes it into his mouth.

-- Loves talking on the phone.

-- Makes me feel very special when he climbs up on my lap, gives me a huge hug and kiss and says, "Lub Oooo Mommy!"
