Dark/Light

Following my exploration yesterday which produced an image based on value contrast, I suppose I was primed to look for today's choice. Another cloudy day, so my eyes were focused on subjects close to hand and, looking at the woodland floor, I became interested in the receding ice patterns remaining on the black soil.

I worked around until I found an area that bordered a patch of snow which gave me the contrast of light and dark I wanted. I think it's all about finding the right balance, either symmetrical, or asymmetric and then if so, by how much.

The twigs, leaves and other debris add visual interest to the frame.
