Cuisenaire Rods

My sister, who is quite a bit younger than me, was taught to count using Cuisenaire Rods. I can't say that she's turned into a mathematician of note but then neither have I and I certainly didn't have any new-fangled teaching like this. Times tables by rote more like and punishment for getting them wrong. Why I've fallen heir to the Rods is a mystery but they're now known as 'the carrots' and feature in Wednesday play.

The baby sister was delivered at 07:00 this morning and it's all going very well. I'm a bit out of practice looking after a baby but it's all coming back. Off to change a nappy now!
