travelling companions

Inspired by a post shared by a friend at New Year, I have been thinking about the concept of a "depth year" ( I will try to find the link and edit this later on)*. Basically it's about not spreading yourself thin, finishing projects instead of starting new ones, going deeper instead of wider.

I have a lot of unread books on my shelves, but I'm always buying new ones (new to me; my marketplace of choice is World of Books). And I've always envied people I know who have read all of Dickens..so I've decided to read all his novels before my 60th birthday next July. I've read quite a few so it's not an enormous task, but most of the ones I've not yet read are enormous books! Still, a pleasure in store, I reckon.

I'm starting with Pickwick because it was his first book and because Sarah liked it so much. It makes a great travelling companion, too.

I bought this copy on 11th March 1982, so it's about time I read it!

*Here it is. Thank you, Kerry!
