Demolition

MrM and I seem to be going through a period of hibernation! After a bad night's sleep (due to things blowing around outside in gusty gale-force winds, and MrM's bad hip), it was very late, even by our standards, when we came to this morning.

After a hasty brunch with lashings of black coffee, we decided to stretch our legs and walk to the bottom of the hill to fetch some veg. Damp and still very windy when we set out, and as we walked along by the river to the shop it started to rain. Absolutely soaked on the way home, necessitating a complete change of clothes. My showerproof jacket didn't keep the rain out this afternoon!

Perusing so-called 'rugged' cameras. Much as I love my present compact camera - a Panasonic Lumix with 30x zoom - it's on its last legs, so to speak. It hasn't really stood up very well to wet and windy trips to the beach, chilly trips in the hills or, for that matter, the constant haze of dust in the flat which will no doubt continue until it's no longer a building site. Tempted by the Ricohs, and thinking back fondly to the tiny Ricoh camera I used to own way back in the 70s/early 80s. It served me well through several years of adventures in the hills, taking photos with one hand whilst clinging to a solid hold with the other...

The Blip shows the derelict building that's being demolished to make way for the Ad Gefrin distillery in Wooler. We thought that more of the original structure was to remain, but it seems not. Before MrM and I moved to Wooler, we viewed the house at the top of the photo. What the estate agent's blurb failed to mention was the sheer drop immediately outside the back door...
