Taylor’s Mistake

Taylor was a sea captain and turned into this bay when looking for Lyttelton Harbour.
Our guide wasn’t sure what happened next, but we presume it wasn’t pretty.
Nowadays it’s got a number of ‘cribs’ along the riverside which the council are apparently planning to demolish as and when the current owner dies!
One had this collection of thongs nailed to the wall.
I hope it’s not like the way hunters tack crows to the fence!
