Look at Who is Three!
Today was our darling granddaughter's third birthday with the requisite party. This shot was taken before the party when she was getting ready and of course, you can't have enough bows or barrettes in the hair. Her other grandmother had given her this modern version of the slinky which she was rolling up and down her arm.
Later, we walked over to a community center on the Upper West Side where everything was set up for a "soccer" party with 20 similarly aged kids, twice as many parents, and few younger siblings. She has been taking soccer classes for about a year. She was absolutely clueless when she started but her ball-handling now is quite impressive.... for a 3-year-old. She had her very own special pink soccer shirt with her name on the back and the number "3". At times it was pandemonium, but the soccer company that gives the lessons and has this sideline of birthday parties did an extraordinary job of setting up, engaging the kids in activities for almost 90 minutes, then serving the food and cake, and best of all doing the clean-up.
She had a wonderful day and that's really all that matters. I have added a shot of her at the head of the table. The shot is deceiving and looks more crowded because there is a mirror behind her. You can actually see Nana, the photographer (and blipper) in the shot too if you look closely. It's sort of like "where's Waldo." I have added a few more just to mark the day. The candle shot looks like there are only two candles but there were really three, one is stacked behind another.
