Midday sun
Holiday Day 9
Up early to get to Base Camp to pay our drinks' bill and then get a bus to the airport, of course it was a lovely day!
Outside the airport was a lit up sculpture (I presume ice though it was hard to tell) see extra 1 and from the departure lounge we could see the sun under our plane at nearly midday. A view from the window (2nd extra) as taking off gives a fair idea of the local scenery.
All went well, quick baggage delivery, shuttle to S Terminal and train to St Pancras arrived as we got to stations, walked to King's Cross and got something to eat. Then it went awry.
The platform board didn't have the train our booking confirmation said (17.30) and the only one to Edinburgh was too late for a connection to Dundee. Hurried check of timetables, the 17.30 wasn't on it but there was one from Euston at 17.28 which we might just make. However, the GPS told us the wrong way and although we weren't far out it was just too much, even running, and we arrived 2 mins too late. No more trains north so a night in London. Fortunately a sister lies in London and she was able to put us up for the night so we only had the tube fare to pay, and that was about what we'd have paid for a taxi in Dundee.
Our train tickets were valid until the end of January so no hassle there.
