Tony

Tony and his dog Danzig huddled with a small group of friends to stay warm.  Overnight temperatures had dropped below freezing.  Life has been rough for Tony and he has no family or friends able to offer him shelter at this time. "We're doing okay, but it ain't fun," he said.  He asked me why I was there sitting on the sidewalk with him.  I didn't have a canned response for Tony.  "Because you're here. That's why I'm here," I finally said.  He offered me some snacks and asked if I'd come back, maybe bring a copy of the photo with me.  Yes. It's the least I can do - I'll be back.
