Roman Town
In the eastern Algarve lies this Roman town, Tavira, straddling the Gilão river, just north of the Atlantic.
Actually, according to Wikipedia, the settlement dates back to the Bronze Age and has been part of many civilisations and empires. These days it's a very pleasant place to wander, even if the weather is particularly hot.
Today it was chilly, with a stiff breeze threatening the thin layers that I was wearing; but we enjoyed the day with my mother.
