Mannum SA

Mannum is on the Murray River. A historic town, once a centre for river trade via paddle steamers.
In the foreground the Randell Dry Dock first used in 1876. At the rear the PS Marion, first built as a barge in 1897, to be modified a few times until she became the 3 deck passenger ship she is today. She sat dormant in the dry dock for over thirty years before being recommissioned in 1994 after painstaking restoration. The paddle is still driven by the steam engine that was installed in 1900.
