At Last

The snow arrived under cover of darkness yesterday evening. Predicted, it nevertheless it was a surprise to see the sudden transformed landscape in the light from the path lamps outside the windows.

This morning , there were occasional soft flurries of snowflakes with no great intent, landing on snow that was in two minds whether to stay or disappear quickly.
The heaviest flurry caught me unawares as I did a circuit of Greyfriars graveyard and produced today's blip of the Castle through the trees, shrouded behind a veil of falling flakes while the tombstones stood starkly black, wearing their snow deposits like icing on cakes.

Multiple snowmen have arrived with their carrot noses and stick like arms, surveying the Meadows through stony eyes. I wonder how long they will stay before melting away.
